One of the keys to a successful portrait session in being comfortable. Comfortable enough to smile and laugh and really be yourself. So I was trilled with Anne and Rick suggested that we do their engagement photos in their backyard – a place where they are very comfortable. Then as the day approached I got to thinking that I have no idea what we are walking into. Luckily their magical backyard was better than I could have imagined! We recreated a little camping scene and they had fun props that they had made themselves and of course the dogs just made it perfect. Thanks Anne + Rick, looking forward to the big day!
Anne and Rick met at a philosophy club party several years ago. Within a year they were dating and have been working to figure out the meaning of their lives together ever sense. They love family, friends, their dogs Summer and Flash, camping, philosophy, reading, playing games, history, food, movies, traveling, nature and exploring.
They wanted their engagement photos to reflect their life as a couple so they picked a beautiful outdoor location – their own back yard. They let their dogs have free run in the pics, lit a camp fire, played Scrabble and enjoyed a wine and cheese tray. Basically, they recreated their low-key weekends at home they often have. They also did some shots to represent one of their favorite pass-times together – camping.
They plan to wed in the Spring at Lake Fausse Pointe State Park in what they are calling a “Cajun Destination Wedding.”
